Société Générale
Mobile App Redesign — Android & iOS
As Lead Android & iOS Developer within a 12-person team, we took part in the redesign of the Société Générale mobile banking app. The project relied on a hybrid React Native architecture connected to native Android and iOS layers for the most sensitive features, meeting the high security, stability and performance requirements of a banking context.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
How the product was structured
The overview is split into context, platform, architecture, and stack so the delivery shape is easier to scan.
PRODUCT CONTEXT
A large-scale banking context demands high standards of security, stability and performance. The Société Générale mobile app redesign combined a React Native layer for shared UI and flows with native Android and iOS modules for the most sensitive features — security, biometrics, transfers and peer-to-peer payments.
PLATFORM
Android & iOS Banking App
ARCHITECTURE
A hybrid React Native architecture handled the shared application layer, while native Android (Java) and iOS (Swift / Objective-C) modules covered security-sensitive functionality such as the Security Pass, biometric authentication, Paylib between friends and money transfers. Bridges between React Native and the native layers kept these journeys fast, reliable and consistent across both platforms.

QUICK BRIEF
What did we build for Société Générale?
As Lead Android & iOS Developer within a 12-person team, we took part in the redesign of the Société Générale mobile banking app, built on a hybrid React Native architecture connected to native Android and iOS layers for security-sensitive features. The project…
How it worked
The application was built on a hybrid React Native architecture, bridged to native Android (Java) and iOS (Swift / Objective-C) layers for the most sensitive features — security, biometrics and payments. As Lead Android & iOS Developer within a 12-person team, the work centered on building and maintaining reliable bridges between the React Native layer and the native modules, so that security-critical banking journeys stayed fast, stable and consistent on both platforms...
Engineering focus
- Security Pass (Pass Sécurité) module development and integration
- Biometric authentication across Android and iOS
- Paylib between friends (P2P payment) module and money transfer journeys
What changed
- Contributed to modernizing a banking app used at large scale
- New secure journeys and transactional features integrated
- Improved interoperability between hybrid and native technologies
ENGINEERING CHALLENGES
Where the complexity lived
These were the main constraints the product architecture had to solve before launch.
Challenge 01
Ensuring reliable communication between React Native and the native Android/iOS layers
Challenge 02
Preserving the reliability of sensitive banking journeys under a hybrid architecture
Challenge 03
Integrating security and biometric components consistently on both platforms
Challenge 04
Maintaining a coherent experience across Android and iOS
